In an attempt to write more, and just get out more things I liked and want to share, I’m trying out a Friday recap addition of Something New. New music comes out, new movies hit the theaters, new books are published, and the online content machine never stops. Here’s something(s) new I liked this week:

New York Times’ pieces

Three particularly great read this week: Brooke Barnes reporting on the discovery of a female pioneer in the world of animation; Esther Zuckerman on the creation and recent additions to a canon of Jewish American films; and the newest gem from our finest culture critic Wesley Morris, on our woeful state of zero movie stars.

A movie trailer

From our finest living film-maker’s new film on an American icon.

An English band

that has totally captured me and my spotify account, and could very possibly be on next week’s best-of-the-year list.

As always, clap-back with what you consumed this week (that definitely includes food) in the comments!

And of course, if you are new, and would like to be shared with directly, I highly recommend subscribing! It will send these straight to your inbox, or Substack app (which makes reading really great). It also helps me see what people like to read, so I can do more of that!

Back next week with a couple of lists.

TTFN,

B
