I missed my (now not) annual Fourth of July Barbeque Playlist post this year, where I share playlists I find from other people to help celebrate our finest Hosting People Outdoors day of the year.
But my cup runneth over, and I simply must share the ‘lists I’ve been using for this purpose this year, though I have yet to host anyone outdoors and play music that isn’t my local jazz radio station – KMHD, a lovely NPR off-shoot that could use all of our help to remain funded these days.
Keeping in line with my “busy summer” vibe from previous entries, here’s the ‘lists, no ajoining prose.
Keep sharing the things you love with the people you similarly love.
Thank you, as always, for reading (and listening).

Podcast episode, and explanation, here.
From Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald at The Ringer: their annual 4th of July BBQ ‘list
From Chris Ryan and Sean Fennessey: a playlist of old VHS movies that still exist in rental stores
From Derek Gee: talking music with Michelle Zauner (Japanese Breakfast)
From Michelle Zauner: a playlist of sick-ass movie posters from all over the world
From Ali Slagle: a playlist of things to eat on your next camping trip
Oops, our definition of playlist got weird. C’est la vie.
